NASA’s Lucy Mission-Digital Illustrations

On October 16th of 2021 NASA’s Lucy spacecraft launched beginning a 12 year mission to pass by an unprecedented eight asteroids in our solar system. The mission is named for the Lucy hominin fossil that has shed much light on human evolution, the mission will visit it’s first asteroid in 2025. This asteroid will be a preview of its main mission, to visit the asteroids that have collected in Jupiter’s L4 and L5 Lagrange points.
A few days after launch it was discovered that the right solar array did not fully deploy. While not seen as a major issue, as of this posting the right solar array is still not latch. These illustrations depict the solar array in it’s unlatched position.
