In these illustrations I am exploring a realistic portrayal of a large scale space station. Constructed of prefabricated modules and assembled using a series of robotic arms similar to the Canadarm currently deployed on the International Space Station. The arms would be attached to a gantry that slides along the rails of each section of the modules. This construction gantry would disassemble to wrap around other modules or maneuver multiple modules into position. While externally each module looks identical, their internal layout would differ based on it’s function, such as crew quarters, laboratories, mess halls, recreation and fitness. Each module as two emergency hatches and can be isolated from each other in cases of emergency. Sounds like a good setting for a story.

Science Fiction Corridors-Digital Illustrations
I will be exploring some various compositions of architecture in science fiction. Many key moments in science fiction films have that establishing hallway or corridor scenes. They provide a sense of the worldbuilding, the architecture, technology, mood and scale. These illustrations are practice pieces quickly developed in Adobe Dimension. Each one taking about an hour to create.
Year of the Rabbit – Ink on Paper
Happy Chinese New Year. It’s been a while since I have posted some traditional ink and brush on paper. An early morning visit by a little rabbit outside the front door is the inspiration for this piece. Below is the video of the painting.

Space Artober Challenge
This October I took on the Space Artober Challenge. Working off the Spacetober Challenge prompt list, I decided to combine this with Logotober which is a logo a day for each day in October. This was a great creative exercise. Each logo was developed in Adobe Illustrator, both using the desktop version and the iPad.
Here are a few of my favorites.
In 2006 a retired Russian Orlan spacesuit with a radio transmitter mounted on its helmet was deployed in an orbit around the Earth. This was SuitSat-1

Black Hole-Digital Illustration
The recent news about the imaging of the supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy was the inspiration for this artwork. The incomprehensible scale of an object that defies human experience as it dominates the landscape of an alien world. The strange sight as background stars are distorted by the lensing effect of the massive object. This digital work combines my photographic elements with a digitally drawn black hole. Using Adobe photoshop and Procreate.
